Inviting all Teen Volunteers , Parents of teen Volunteers & Friendship Circle families to an afternoon of appreciation for our volunteers and friendship buddies. Honoring Sean Papolla as Volunteer of the year and Sophia Mellon as Friends at Home Volunteer of the year. Following our guest speaker Joe Volfman.
Joe Volfman is a 20 year old athlete, motivational speaker, DJ and student at Rutgers University. Growing up with Cerebral Palsy wasn’t easy but Joe and his family did not let that stop them. Growing up he always wanted to be athletic but he was afraid of not being “good enough.” One day, he decided to take the leap and started competing in track, field, archery, swimming and powerlifting with his local Para Sport Club, and has never looked back. With three full marathons and multiple bike rides under his belt Joe has his eyes set on qualifying for the Paralympics and representing Team USA in hand cycling. He also has future goals of completing multiple Ironman events, and much more. While he may be sitting or have a “disability ”, this does not stop him in any way shape or form. He trains seven days a week and does over 200 miles in a week as well.
“I believe we are all born 100% it is just distributed differently. Find what you love, and go get it! Training for the Paralympics is hard, and there is a lot of blood sweat and tears that come from it but I love the challenge. Many people ask me- if you were given a cure to your disability would you take it? And my answer remains the same. No. My soul purpose is to raise awareness about disabilities and show that anything is possible, there are no limits. Go live your dreams and be fearless. “ Looking forward to seeing you all virtually there:)
